Dr Josie Dixon

CPEC, LSE Associate Deputy Director, Social Care

Josie is primarily a qualitative researcher with experience of applying a range of qualitative methods, tools and conceptual and evaluative frameworks to research questions of direct relevance to policymakers. She is also statistically trained with experience of designing and guiding quantitative research, and of collaborating in multi- and mixed-method teams.

Her research focuses mainly on ageing and care, spanning topics such as dementia, long-term care, end-of-life care, digital care technologies, and prevention, self-directed and community-based approaches to support. She also has expertise in research ethics and the conduct of sensitive research.

In previous roles, Josie has directed government and other nationally commissioned qualitative and mixed-method research projects (up to value £4 million) and worked with local leaders to improve strategic planning and service provision (through consultancy, research, value for money assessment, and inspection).

Outside of work, Josie enjoys getting outdoors, yoga, printmaking, photography (which she studied to master's degree level), independent cinema and live music in small venues.
