Dr Ona McCarthy

LSHTM Assistant Professor

Ona has almost 20 years’ experience in reproductive and sexual health research, including the development and evaluation of services delivered by mobile devices and the design and analysis of surveys on abortion and reproductive experiences. She has collaborated with colleagues on projects in the UK, India, Nepal, Tajikistan, Bolivia, the West Bank Occupied Palestine, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Zimbabwe.

Ona’s research interests are in identifying and implementing effective interventions to improve voluntary contraceptive use, including post-partum use and generating evidence on how to improve the understanding of reproductive experiences and access to reproductive health services in the UK.

Ona enjoys being a parent, riding her bike with her son and partner around East London.
